About

Plant-derived triterpenes — the sticky resinous compounds found in frankincense and myrrh — with proven anti-inflammatory and skin-restoring properties.

Alpha-amyrin and beta-amyrin are pentacyclic triterpenes widely distributed in plant resins, especially Boswellia (frankincense) and Commiphora (myrrh). They inhibit 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX) and COX enzymes, reducing leukotriene and prostaglandin synthesis. Amyrins are non-cytotoxic at cosmetic concentrations and show no sensitization in standard testing. They're considered safe in topical applications with anti-aging and barrier-repair benefits.
