About

Exosomes purported to come from deer velvet antler stem cells. Animal-biologic with regulatory and traceability red flags.

Deer velvet stem cell exosomes are nanoscale vesicles isolated from cells derived from deer antler velvet tissue. Exosomes carry proteins, miRNAs, and lipids, and are being studied extensively in medicine. In cosmetics, the category exploded in 2022-2024, but the FDA issued warnings in late 2023 and 2024 that cosmetic and non-medical exosome products are not FDA-approved and may be marketed with unsupported therapeutic claims. Animal-origin exosomes raise additional concerns: prion/viral screening, species-specific traceability, and supply-chain ethics. No CIR or SCCS evaluation. Independent verification of exosome content and purity is often lacking in suppliers.
