About
Lipid fraction from human placenta. EU-banned as a human-tissue-derived cosmetic ingredient; FDA has issued warnings. Avoid.
Human placental lipids are the lipid-soluble fraction extracted from human placenta. Like all human-tissue-derived cosmetic materials, they fall under EU Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009 Annex II entry 419, which prohibits "cells, tissues or products of human origin" in cosmetics. The US FDA has published warning letters concerning human-placenta cosmetics, including concerns about residual hormone activity and pathogen transmission. Beyond regulation, sourcing, consent, traceability and cultural acceptance are unresolved.
