About
Protein extract from human placenta. EU-banned in cosmetics; US FDA warns against its use. Avoid.
Human placental protein refers to protein fractions derived from human placenta. The EU Cosmetics Regulation Annex II (entry 419) prohibits "cells, tissues or products of human origin" in cosmetic products. The US FDA has issued warning letters to companies marketing human placenta cosmetics and has identified associated hormonal content concerns (particularly oestrogen activity linked to premature puberty case reports). Beyond regulation, use of human-origin materials raises ethical, consent, provenance and infectious-disease transmission concerns (HIV, hepatitis viruses). No legitimate cosmetic justification.
