Thiotepa (INN, CAS 52-24-4) is an ethyleneimine derivative used as an antineoplastic agent in pharmaceutical applications. In the EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009, Thiotepa is listed in Annex II (banned substances) as substance code 1374. This listing explicitly prohibits its use in cosmetic products. The substance is a known carcinogen and mutagen with severe systemic toxicity. Any presence of Thiotepa in a cosmetic product constitutes a violation of EU cosmetic regulations. This ingredient has no place in any cosmetic formulation regardless of concentration.
