About

A C9 triglyceride (glyceryl trinonanoate, also called glyceryl tripelargonate). Light, stable emollient — close cousin to caprylic/capric triglyceride.

Tripelargonin (CAS 126-53-4) is the triester of glycerin with three molecules of pelargonic acid (nonanoic acid, C9). Chemically and aesthetically it is very similar to caprylic/capric triglyceride, providing a light, fast-spreading, oxidation-stable emollient and active solubilizer for lotions and color cosmetics. CIR has reviewed alkyl triglyceride esters as safe for cosmetic use. No CMR or endocrine flags identified; well-tolerated on skin at typical use levels (1-15%).
