Zoxazolamine was a uricosuric agent and muscle relaxant drug previously investigated for gout and spasticity treatment. EU Annex III of the Cosmetics Regulation prohibits its use in cosmetic products at concentrations ≥0.1% as a substance or in mixtures. Toxicological data show acute toxicity via multiple exposure routes (H302, H312, H332) along with skin and eye irritation (H315, H319). Its clinical development was discontinued due to hepatotoxicity concerns.
