Laureth-13 is the polyethylene glycol 13-mole ether of lauryl alcohol (dodecanol), CAS 9002-92-0. CosIng lists it with emulsifying and surfactant functions and no EU restrictions in Annex III. Mid-range ethoxylation (EO13) provides balanced hydrophile-lipophile balance suitable for a variety of cosmetic applications. The laureth series is among the most extensively studied surfactant families; CIR and SCCS opinions on fatty alcohol ethoxylates support safety at normal cosmetic concentrations. 1,4-dioxane is the primary impurity concern and is regulated under EU cosmetic GMP.
