An amine oxide surfactant similar to other amidopropylamine oxides, providing cleansing and foam-boosting properties with a good safety profile.
Palmitamidopropylamine Oxide is structurally analogous to lauramidopropylamine oxide and myristamidopropylamine oxide, differing only in the chain length of the fatty acid moiety (C16 palmitic acid vs C12 lauric or C14 myristic). It is used as a nonionic/amphoteric surfactant in cosmetic formulations, valued for its mildness and foaming properties. It is not specifically restricted under EU Regulation 1223/2009, though its safety assessment is informed by the read-across from structurally similar amidopropylamine oxides that have been reviewed by the EU Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS).
