Polyglyceryl-6 tetraoleate is a fully esterified polyglycerol (average DP 6 glycerol) with four oleic acid chains, producing a lipophilic emulsifier with an HLB value in the range of 9–11 suitable for water-in-oil emulsification. It is listed in EU CosIng without restriction entries. The polyglycerol structure makes it fully biodegradable and compatible with both acidic and alkaline cosmetic formulations. Polyglycerol tetraesters are notably more resistant to hydrolysis than corresponding triglyceride esters, providing good formulation stability. The high oleic acid content provides emollient benefits while the polyglycerol core offers water-binding and skin-conditioning properties.
