Doxapram is a respiratory stimulant (propylhexedrine derivative) used medically as a respiratory stimulant in post-anesthesia and COPD management. It acts on peripheral chemoreceptors to increase respiratory rate and depth. The ingredient is not approved for cosmetic use in any major market. EU Regulation 1223/2009 Annex II prohibits pharmacologically active substances not specifically authorized for cosmetic use. Doxapram's side effect profile includes hypertension, tachycardia, seizures, and psychiatric effects — entirely unsuitable for cosmetic application. No cosmetic function has been identified; any presence constitutes a regulatory violation.
