Medroxyprogesterone acetate is a synthetic progestogen used in hormonal contraceptives and hormone replacement therapy. It is classified as CMR Category 1B under EU CLP and is explicitly banned under EU Cosmetics Regulation Annex II. Its endocrine-disrupting properties make it wholly unsuitable for cosmetic skin care formulations.
