About

An indanedione anticoagulant rodenticide with extreme acute toxicity and birth defects concerns, absolutely prohibited in cosmetic formulations.

Chlorophacinone is an indanedione-class rodenticide that acts as a vitamin K antagonist, causing fatal hemorrhage in rodents. The EU cosmetic regulation categorically prohibits this substance due to its H300/H310/H330 (extremely toxic by all exposure routes), H360D (birth defects), H372 (specific organ toxicity), and H400/H410 (aquatic toxicity) hazard classifications. It has no cosmetic function and is listed on Annex II of Regulation 1223/2009 as a prohibited substance.
