2-Ethylhexyl salicylate (Octisalate) is an EU-authorized UV filter listed in Regulation 1223/2009 Annex VII, permitted at a maximum concentration of 5% in cosmetic products. It efficiently absorbs UVB radiation and is valued for its excellent photostability. ECHA flags it with H315 (skin irritation) and H410 (aquatic toxicity at high concentrations), but these are manageable at regulated use levels.
