About
2-OCTENAL is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulation. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
2-Octenal is an unsaturated aliphatic aldehyde functioning as a fragrance ingredient with a characteristic green, leafy, and slightly fatty odor profile. It is not listed in EU Annexes II or III. Like other alpha-beta unsaturated aldehydes, it presents some reactivity concerns in cosmetic formulations, particularly regarding oxidation. The unsaturated bond makes it susceptible to peroxidation, which can generate contact allergens. Formulated products containing 2-octenal should include appropriate antioxidants to minimize this risk.
