3,3'-Dichlorobenzidine (3,3'-DCB) is an aromatic amine intermediate used in azo dye and pigment manufacture. It is classified by IARC as Group 2B (possibly carcinogenic to humans) and EU CLP as H312 (harmful in contact with skin), H317 (skin sensitization), H350 (carcinogen), H400/H410 (aquatic toxicity), H335 (respiratory irritation), and H341/H351 (mutagenicity/carcinogen suspected). EU SVHC identification applies. The EU Cosmetics Regulation Annex II prohibits 3,3'-dichlorobenzidine in cosmetic products.
