4-Aminobiphenyl hydrochloride is the salt form of 4-aminobiphenyl (biphenyl-4-ylamine), which is classified as a Group 1 human carcinogen by IARC due to documented bladder cancer causation in occupationally exposed humans. The hydrochloride salt retains the same toxicological concerns as the parent base. Under EU Regulation 1223/2009 Annex II, 4-aminobiphenyl and its salts are prohibited for use in cosmetic products. The salt form has no cosmetic authorization regardless of the cosmetic product type.
