About
A natural gum from Acacia seyal, a close cousin of gum arabic. Food-grade polysaccharide used for light film-forming and moisture retention.
Acacia seyal gum is the dried exudate of the Acacia seyal tree — a sister species of Acacia senegal (gum arabic). It is a highly branched arabinogalactan polysaccharide, food-grade (JECFA-cleared, E414 family), and functions in cosmetics as a film former, mild humectant, and stabiliser. No CIR-specific monograph for A. seyal, but gum arabic polysaccharides are broadly considered safe in topical use. No EU CosIng restriction. Very rare Acacia-pollen allergy reports exist, but direct cosmetic sensitisation is uncommon.
