About
Aldrin — a Stockholm Convention banned pesticide that converts to dieldrin in the body. Not a cosmetic ingredient under any interpretation.
Aldrin (CAS 309-00-2) is a chlorinated cyclodiene insecticide that readily metabolises in vivo to dieldrin, which is the main toxicologically active species. Like dieldrin, it is a Stockholm Convention POP (2001) targeted for global elimination. It is classified by IARC as Group 2A (probable human carcinogen), and by EU CLP as a Category 2 carcinogen and a Category 1 acute toxicant (fatal by oral, dermal, and inhalation routes). Persistent and bioaccumulative in adipose tissue. Prohibited in cosmetic products under EU Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 Annex II. No cosmetic application exists.
