About
A violet-scented fragrance alcohol (alpha-ionol). Used at trace fragrance levels with IFRA guidance; can sensitize a minority of users.
Alpha-Ionol (CAS 25312-34-9) is a secondary alcohol in the ionone family, giving a soft, powdery, violet-like fragrance note. It is used purely as a fragrance material. RIFM has evaluated ionone-family compounds and IFRA sets use-concentration guidance. It is not classified CMR, but ionones including alpha-isomethyl ionone appear on the EU allergen-declaration list; alpha-ionol itself has a modest sensitization signal. Not a functional active. Score sits in the middle of the Fine tier, reflecting normal fragrance-ingredient sensitization profile and absence of skincare benefit.
