About

A clay mineral pigment and filler used to provide colour, opacity, and texture in cosmetic products.

Aluminum silicate (kaolin family) is used in cosmetics both as a pigment (CI 77004) and as an absorbent/bulking agent. It is regulated under EU CosIng restriction IV/119 which specifies purity criteria including limits on arsenic and lead content. Generally safe for use in all cosmetic types at normal concentrations, though inhalation of loose powder forms should be avoided.
