About
A naturally occurring biflavonoid antioxidant found in Ginkgo biloba and other plants, with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties used in anti-aging cosmetics.
Amentoflavone is a bis-flavonoid (a dimer of apigenin or luteolin) found in medicinal plants including Ginkgo biloba and Hypericum perforatum. It is not listed in EU CosIng Annexes with restrictions, indicating permitted cosmetic use. It acts as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory through NF-κB and MAPK pathway inhibition. Available data show no significant toxicity, though it has been studied for potential hormonal activity at high doses. Used in anti-aging and calming skincare formulations at low concentrations.
