Derived from EU CosIng regulatory status, PubChem hazard data and published research. How we score.
An aromatic ester fragrance (anisyl acetate) with a sweet, floral scent used in cosmetics and fine fragrances — no EU restrictions at cosmetic use levels.
Anisyl Acetate (p-methoxybenzyl acetate) is an aromatic ester fragrance compound found in essential oils such as ylang-ylang and jasmine. Reviewed by IFRA and RIFM with an established safety profile and no use restrictions. It has a pleasant sweet-floral odor used in a wide range of cosmetic and personal care products. At use levels up to 5% in finished products, no significant irritation or sensitisation has been documented. The p-methoxy group on the benzyl ring reduces allergenic potential compared to non-substituted benzyl acetate.
