About

The vascular skin covering growing deer antlers — a traditional wellness ingredient rich in collagen, growth factors, and cartilage-building compounds that support skin elasticity and renewal.

Antler Velvet refers to the highly vascularized skin tissue (the 'velvet') that covers and nourishes growing deer antlers during their rapid growth phase, which can exceed 2 cm per day. This tissue is exceptionally rich in type I and type II collagen, glycosaminoglycans (particularly chondroitin sulfate), growth factors including IGF-1 and TGF-beta, and amino acids such as proline and hydroxyproline that are essential for collagen synthesis. The velvet is harvested ethically during the growth phase before calcification, then processed (typically freeze-dried or extracted) for cosmetic use. The growth factor content is particularly relevant for skin applications — TGF-beta promotes fibroblast proliferation and collagen deposition, while IGF-1 supports cell renewal and wound healing processes in the epidermis.
