About
An extract of Gmelin's sagewort — an Artemisia cousin of mugwort. Broadly safe as a cosmetic botanical, with the usual daisy-family allergy caveat.
Artemisia gmelinii is an Asian wormwood species used in traditional East Asian skincare. Its extract contains sesquiterpene lactones, flavonoids, and essential-oil monoterpenes (thujone, camphor, cineole in related species) delivering antioxidant and antimicrobial effects. There is no dedicated CIR or SCCS opinion, but related Artemisia species (A. capillaris, A. vulgaris, A. annua) are recognized by CIR as safe in cosmetics at typical use. Main concern: Asteraceae-family cross-reactivity in allergy-prone users and potential for essential-oil-driven irritation at high concentration. No GHS data.
