About
A fermented soybean extract produced by Aspergillus mold, used in cosmetics for its skin-conditioning and enzyme-rich profile.
Aspergillus/Soybean Seed Ferment Filtrate is the filtrate from fermentation of Glycine soja (soybean) seed by Aspergillus fungi. Fermentation breaks down soy proteins and may reduce allergenicity while producing bioactive metabolites including peptides and organic acids. Aspergillus-fermented soy is used in traditional East Asian foods and cosmetics. The existing PubChem score of 80 reflects the safety of the fermented form, which is generally better tolerated than unfermented soy.
Skin benefits
- Bioactive peptides from fermentation
- Reduced allergenicity compared to unfermented soy
- Contains organic acids for gentle exfoliation
Known concerns
- Contains soy — must be declared as allergen
- Fermentation may produce alcohol — caution for sensitive individuals
