About
A ferment from Aureobasidium pullulans — the same black yeast used in the food industry — producing beta-glucan and pullulan that hydrate and strengthen the skin barrier.
Aureobasidium pullulans is a polymorphic fungus used industrially to produce pullulan (a polysaccharide) and beta-glucan. Fermentation converts the substrate into bioactive metabolites including exopolysaccharides, enzymes and organic acids. Pullulan forms breathable films on skin that reduce water loss. Beta-glucan is an established skin-repair ingredient with wound-healing and anti-aging properties. The organism is non-pathogenic and the fermentation process is well-controlled. No safety concerns at cosmetic use levels.
