About
Starfruit (Averrhoa carambola) juice — a tropical fruit juice with vitamin C and organic acids used for mild antioxidant and exfoliating effect.
Averrhoa carambola (starfruit) fruit juice is pressed from the ribbed tropical fruit. The juice contains vitamin C, polyphenols, and appreciable oxalic acid and other organic acids, providing mild antioxidant and exfoliating cosmetic function. Starfruit contains neurotoxic caramboxin that is a concern in patients with renal impairment when consumed orally, but this is not relevant at topical cosmetic use. EU CosIng lists it without restriction and no GHS hazard class applies. Avoid on abraded skin due to oxalate content.
