About
A fermented soybean extract made using Bacillus bacteria, producing peptides and metabolites that can brighten and improve skin texture.
Bacillus/Soybean Ferment is produced via submerged fermentation of Glycine max (soybean) by a Bacillus strain, typically B. subtilis or B. licheniformis. The fermentation breaks down soy proteins into smaller peptides, amino acids, and bioactive metabolites including isoflavones in more bioavailable forms. These compounds can inhibit tyrosinase (brightening effect) and support collagen. Soy is a known sensitizer in rare allergy cases; fermenting may reduce allergenicity.
Function
Skin benefits
- Brightening via tyrosinase inhibition
- Antioxidant support from fermented isoflavones
- Improved skin texture from peptide content
Known concerns
- Soy allergy (rare but possible)
- Fermentation may produce minor irritant metabolites in sensitive individuals
