About
An aromatic ester used primarily as a fragrance ingredient, giving a pleasant floral-fruity scent reminiscent of jasmine.
Benzyl Formate is the ester of benzyl alcohol and formic acid, commonly used as a fragrance and flavoring compound with a sweet floral odor profile. It is listed on the EU cosmetic fragrance allergen monitoring list (Annex III/3) and must be declared on ingredient labels when present above 0.001% in leave-on and 0.01% in rinse-off products per SCCS guidance. It carries GHS hazard statements for skin sensitization (H317) at certain concentrations, though at typical cosmetic use levels it is considered safe. The EU IFRA standard restricts its use to a maximum of 0.5% in finished consumer products.
