Beryllium oxide is a beryllium compound with extreme toxicity and carcinogenic potential (H350i, H350). Beryllium and its compounds are prohibited in cosmetic products under EU Cosmetics Regulation Annex II. Chronic beryllium exposure causes chronic beryllium disease (CBD) and is classified as a Group 1 human carcinogen by IARC, with additional serious hazards including H372 (specific target organ toxicity).
