About
A urethane polymer film-forming agent commonly used in nail and cosmetic coatings, valued for durability and adhesion.
This urethane copolymer is formed by reacting a methylpentanediol-adipic acid polyester with isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI), end-capped with HEMA. The ingredient has a PubChem safety score of 78. IPDI is a known respiratory sensitizer and is restricted in the EU (Annex III, Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009), but these restrictions apply to free IPDI, not bound in polymer form. When properly polymerized and end-capped, the copolymer is considered safe for cosmetic use with no residual monomer concerns at typical usage levels.
