About
A long-wearing film-former that sticks to skin via hydrogen bonds. The finished polymer is safe if the raw isocyanate is fully reacted during manufacture.
Bis-methylisocytosine hydrogenated polybutadiene/IPDI copolymer (CAS 1234379-92-0) is a supramolecular polyurethane film former, originally a Credentials-type polymer used to give cosmetics self-healing, long-wear properties via methylisocytosine hydrogen-bonding modules. As with any IPDI-based polyurethane, free-monomer control in manufacturing is the key safety driver — finished cured polymer is considered low-risk at cosmetic levels. No dedicated CIR monograph; EU CosIng permits general use.
Function
Skin benefits
- Long-wear makeup film
- Self-healing elasticity
- Film-based effects
Known concerns
- Residual IPDI monomer control required
