About
A very new ester ingredient derived from citronellol and azelaic acid. There's not enough safety data yet to know much about how it affects your skin.
Bis-Polycitronellyl Azelate is a diester formed from polycitronellol and azelaic acid (a naturally occurring dicarboxylic acid also used separately in skincare for its anti-blemish properties). The combination produces an emollient ester with superior skin spread and a distinctive non-greasy, silky finish. Azelaic acid itself has a good safety profile and is even used in over-the-counter anti-blemish products. This ingredient is compatible with COSMOS and ECOCERT natural cosmetic standards. No specific EU regulatory restrictions apply under Regulation 1223/2009.
Known concerns
- Terpene-derived ester - generally stable
- May contain trace residual solvents from manufacturing
- Similar safety profile to BIS-POLYCITRONELLYL SUCCINATE
