About
Lipids extracted from silkworm pupae — rich in essential fatty acids and sericin proteins that moisturize and soften skin while supporting the barrier function.
Bombyx mori (silkworm) lipid extract is composed primarily of neutral lipids including triglycerides, wax esters and free fatty acids (predominantly oleic and linoleic acid). Silkworm pupae are a byproduct of the silk industry and are increasingly valued as an upcycled cosmetic ingredient. The lipid fraction is non-cytotoxic and shows good skin compatibility. Oleic and linoleic acid support barrier function and have documented skin benefits. No allergenic protein fraction is present if properly refined (lipid-only fraction).
