About

Fermented brown rice and rose vinegar — mildly exfoliating, aromatic toner ingredient.

Brown rice/Rosa damascena flower vinegar is a fermentation-derived ingredient combining rice-derived organic acids (mainly acetic acid, plus trace lactic/gluconic acids) with the aromatic compounds of damask rose. Used as a mild AHA-like toner and skin-conditioning ingredient. There is no specific CIR review. The low intrinsic pH (2.5-3.5) means formulations must buffer appropriately to avoid irritation. Fragrance allergen disclosure may apply due to the rose component. Overall safety is on par with rice and rose ingredients individually.

Skin benefits

  • Fermented toner ingredient providing mild AHAs
  • Imparts rice-derived humectant sugars and rose aromatics
  • Contributes to mild skin resurfacing and balancing pH

Known concerns

  • Low pH vinegar base can irritate sensitive skin at high inclusion
  • Fragrance allergens from rose component
  • Standardisation varies batch to batch
