About

Long-chain fatty alcohols (not drying alcohols!) — add body to creams and condition skin. Despite the name, these are emollient waxy solids similar to cetearyl alcohol. Excellent tolerance.

Skin benefits

  • Builds creamy product texture
  • Conditions and softens skin
  • Co-emulsifier in lotions
  • Reinforces moisture barrier

Known concerns

  • Common misconception they're drying — they are emollient
  • No significant concerns at cosmetic concentrations
