About

Cadmium cyanide — combines two separately banned/acutely toxic moieties. Absolutely not a cosmetic ingredient.

Cadmium cyanide (CAS 542-83-6) is an inorganic salt combining the Group 1 human carcinogen cadmium with cyanide, an acutely lethal small molecule that inhibits cellular respiration. EU Cosmetics Regulation Annex II entry 130 prohibits cadmium and its compounds; cyanide salts are separately restricted. Acute oral and inhalation toxicity ratings are in the highest GHS categories, and workplace handling requires respiratory protection. The substance has no cosmetic use and the historical listing should be treated as an error.
