About
Cadmium sulphide — historically a yellow pigment, now prohibited in cosmetics in the EU and recognized as a human carcinogen. Do not use.
Cadmium sulphide (CAS 1306-23-6) is an inorganic compound historically used as a yellow/orange pigment (Cadmium Yellow). Cadmium and its compounds are IARC Group 1 human carcinogens, classified Carc. 1B, Muta. 2, Repr. 2 under EU CLP, and prohibited in cosmetic products under EU Cosmetics Regulation Annex II entry 130. Use as an artistic pigment persists in fine art but is no longer acceptable in consumer cosmetics. Chronic exposure causes renal toxicity and bone demineralization.
