About
A natural mineral blend of calcite (calcium carbonate) and quartz (crystalline silica). On skin it is inert and useful as a filler or mild scrub — the real concern is inhalation of the silica fraction.
Skin benefits
- Mineral bulking and absorbent
- Mild physical exfoliation in scrubs
- Provides matte finish in powder make-up
- Inert and non-reactive
Known concerns
- Crystalline silica fraction is a respiratory hazard if inhaled
- Particle-size control needed in loose powders
- Mechanical abrasion if particle size too large
