About

Marigold juice — one of the best-documented soothing botanicals, with a long European monograph history for calming irritated skin.

Calendula officinalis (pot marigold) flower/leaf/stem juice is a skin-conditioning botanical with one of the strongest traditional-use and modern-monograph dossiers among topical botanicals. Active constituents include triterpenoids (faradiol esters), flavonoids (rutin, quercetin), carotenoids, and saponins, which together support anti-inflammatory and wound-soothing effects. The ESCOP and EMA/HMPC monographs support calendula for minor skin inflammation. CosIng lists it as skin conditioning. No formal CIR monograph, but decades of dermatologic use and good clinical tolerability. The main caveat is Asteraceae-family cross-allergy (ragweed, chamomile, arnica) in sensitized users.
