About
A waxy extract from green tea leaves that coats the skin to prevent moisture loss, leaving it soft and protected.
Camellia Sinensis Leaf Wax is the epicuticular wax fraction obtained from the leaves of Camellia sinensis (tea plant). It is composed mainly of long-chain aliphatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, and esters. In cosmetic formulations, it functions as an occlusive and emollient agent, reducing transepidermal water loss and providing a smooth skin feel. Green tea leaf wax retains some of the antioxidant catechins present in tea leaves.
Skin benefits
- Occlusive (moisture barrier)
- Emollient
- Mild antioxidant activity
Known concerns
- Low concern for topical use
