Cantharidine is the active blistering agent in cantharides (Spanish fly). It carries H300 (fatal if swallowed), H315 (causes skin irritation), H319 (causes serious eye irritation), and H335 (may cause respiratory irritation). This is one of the most potent natural toxins used historically in folk remedies but now strictly banned. It is in EU Annex II as a prohibited substance for cosmetic use.
