About

A pseudo-ceramide-style barrier-mimicking lipid with a monoethanolamine head group. Useful for dry-skin claims; modest nitrosamine caveat.

Caprylo yloxypalmitoyl capryloyloxypalmitamide MEA (CAS 1597432-40-0) is a synthetic pseudo-ceramide lipid combining caprylic and palmitic fatty acid chains with a monoethanolamide (MEA) head group. It is designed to mimic natural ceramide function in the stratum corneum and is used in barrier-support formulations. Compound-specific public toxicology data are limited. The MEA fragment is a secondary amide (not a free secondary amine), so direct nitrosamine formation is much less of a concern than with classic free-amine DEA/MEA compounds, but formulators should still avoid co-formulation with nitrosating agents (e.g., bronopol). No CMR or endocrine flags reported at use levels.
