About

Carbaryl (iso) is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulations. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.

Carbaryl (1-naphthyl N-methylcarbamate) is an ISO-named insecticide historically used in agriculture but now prohibited in cosmetic products under EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009. It is classified as a Category 2 suspected carcinogen by the EU CLP Regulation and is listed on EU REACH Authorisation List (Annex XIV), effectively banning its use in consumer products including cosmetics. Its mechanism involves inhibition of acetylcholinesterase, causing neurotoxic effects in humans and animals.
