About
Cornflower extract — a gentle botanical packed with flavonoids and polyphenols used for soothing and light astringent toning. Very well tolerated.
Centaurea cyanus flower extract (CAS 84012-18-0) is derived from cornflower petals and contains flavonoids, polyphenols, aromatic acids, amino acids, and coumarins. In cosmetics it functions as a skin-conditioning, soothing, and astringent agent, widely used in eye-area products and sensitive-skin formulations. The CIR Expert Panel is currently evaluating Centaurea cyanus-derived ingredients as a complex botanical. Real-world use history is long with a low rate of irritation or sensitization; no EU Annex restrictions apply. As with all botanicals, composition varies by batch and rare individual allergy is possible.
