About

A "protein quat" — combines the cationic binding of a standard hair-conditioning quat with the repairing amino acids of hydrolyzed soy protein. Smooths and strengthens damaged hair in one molecule.

Cetearamidoethyldiethonium Succinoyl Hydrolyzed Soy Protein is a conjugate molecule: a cationic quaternary ammonium compound ("quat") chemically linked via succinic acid to hydrolyzed soy protein. The quat portion carries the positive charge that lets the molecule bind to the negatively charged surface of damaged hair, while the soy protein fragments deliver amino acids that help fill in and reinforce the cuticle. This class — sometimes called "protein quats" — is considered a premium hair conditioning technology because it combines the smoothing of conventional conditioners with targeted protein repair. Safety profile is typical for quats: low irritation in rinse-off products, slightly higher in leave-on. Soy protein in hydrolyzed form carries much lower allergenic potential than intact soy, but people with confirmed soy allergy should still be cautious. Like other quats, environmental persistence is moderate.
