Cetyl Trimethoxysilane (CAS 16415-12-6) is an organosilicon compound with a cetyl (C16) alkyl chain attached to a trimethoxysilane group. Upon hydrolysis it forms silanol groups that can bond to surfaces. In cosmetics it is used for its water-repellent and film-forming properties. Not specifically restricted in EU Annex III, though organosilanes should be used according to Good Manufacturing Practice. PubChem CID: 85406.
