About

Dried flowers of Chamomilla vulgaris (true chamomile), one of the most well-established medicinal plants in cosmetics. Contains the anti-inflammatory compound chamazulene and bisabolol, making it exceptionally soothing for sensitive or irritated skin.

Chamomilla vulgaris (also classified as Matricaria chamomilla/German chamomile) flowers contain the distinctive blue essential oil component chamazulene (formed from matricin during steam distillation), along with alpha-bisabolol, farnesene, and flavonoids such as apigenin-7-glucoside. Under EU Regulation 1223/2009, Chamomilla extract is listed in CosIng and is a well-established cosmetic ingredient. The SCCS has reviewed chamomile extracts and confirmed safety in cosmetic products. No EU restrictions apply to properly characterized chamomile flower material.
