About
CIS-OCTAHYDRONAPHTHALENONE is a cosmetic ingredient used in product formulation. Exercise caution due to limited available safety data.
Cis-octahydronaphthalenone (also known as cis-2-decalone) is the cis-stereoisomer of trans-octahydronaphthalenone. Both isomers share the bicyclic ketone structure responsible for ambergris-like odor properties, though subtle olfactory differences exist between cis and trans forms. The cis configuration at the ring junction is generally more polar than the trans form. The compound is not restricted under EU Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 Annexes II or III, and like its trans counterpart, has a favorable safety profile. IFRA guidelines for octahydronaphthalenone isomers apply for fragrance use concentrations.
